Verse of the Day
Welcome to the new website. We hope that you find the resources here to be relevant, uplifting as well as informative.
If you have suggestions or want to give feedback feel free to send an email. I'll try to keep the site as updated as possible
If you would like to get involved in CMDA then the first step is to get on our email list. All our events will be announced there. The best way to get involved however, is to attend our weekly bible study on Thurdays at noon. We meet regularly for bible study while other events are about once a month.

This semester our Thursday lunch discussions will focus on Christian ethics in dentistry and medicine. We will meet in Moos 2-633 from 12:10-12:55 and explore several Bible passages related to ethics and how we can apply them in our lives and careers. This will be the first of a series that we are calling "Explorations of Faith in Healthcare Professions."
We have a new facebook group! Feel free to join the group.
If you like to subscribe to our calendar then copy this ics link into your calendar software.
The time has come! CMDA's fall retreat is set for the 29th and 30th of October. It will be held at Shepherd's Hill Farm about 45 minutes south of Minneapolis. More information about what to carry is available here
Thanks to those who showed up to our welcome lunch. For those who missed it or wanted a copy of the presentation it can be found here.
Several months ago Dr. Marc Swiontkowski spoke to us about "Medical Professionalism - an extension of the call to Medicine." I'm happy to report that the talk is finally posted. You can listen to it here.
Dr. Bill Nersesian is a retired Christian Pediatrician and for the last 9 years has done physical exams free of charge for MN Teen Challenge. He needs someone to carry this on among the male individuals from ages 16 up to individuals in their 60's and 70's. This would be about two evenings a month for a couple of hours at a time. More information is available here.
The Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA) are made up of the Christian Medical Association (CMA) and the Christian Dental Association (CDA). CMDA provides resources, networking opportunities, education, and a public voice for Christian healthcare professionals and students. Founded in 1931, CMDA provides programs and services supporting its mission to "change hearts in healthcare" with a current membership of more than 15,000. CMDA promotes positions and addresses policies on healthcare issues; conducts overseas medical evangelism projects through its mission arm, Global Health Outreach; coordinates a network of Christian doctors for fellowship and professional growth; sponsors student ministries in medical and dental schools; distributes educational and inspirational resources; hosts marriage and family conferences; provides Third World missionary doctors with continuing education resources; and conducts academic exchange programs overseas. By being the "hands of Jesus" to needy people, CMDA seeks to fulfill His Great Commandment (Matthew 22:39; 25:36) and His Great Commission (Matthew 28:19).
Our Core Values
We strive to fulfill our mission by our commitment to be:
Christ-like, Controlled by the Holy Spirit, Committed to Scripture, Communing in Prayer, Compassionate, Competent, Courageous, Culturally Relevant
Our Statement of Faith
(While each of us holds fast to additional beliefs important to our relationship with God, the following statement outlines the tenets that provide a foundation for our fellowship and participation in the Christian Medical & Dental Associations.)
I believe:
- In the divine inspiration and final authority of the Bible as the Word of God;
- In the eternal God revealed in Holy Scripture as Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
- In the unique Deity of Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, whose death and resurrection provide by grace through faith the only means of my salvation;
- In the transforming presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
As a Christian doctor or Dentist you want to live with integrity and practice with competence and compassion. Yet many of us never learn in school how to fully integrate our profession and our spiritual values. We enter practice without this critical foundation and then often feel isoloated or alienated working with colleagues who may not share our values. CMDA provides oppurtunites to grow, to fellowship, to influence and to serve. Some of the advantages to joining the CMDA include:
Free Membership - Membership is free for al l students
Scholarships - Johnson Mission scholarships, Owen Grants , Risser Fund , Steury scholarships, Tami Fisk Mission and Westra Mission .
CMDA Website - The organization’s website has over 2,000 pages of resources such as position papers, magazine articles, meeting calendars, audio and video files, and other information.
Placement Service - Recruiting service that brings together Christian physicians and practices throughout the U.S. to enhance their ministry andadvance the kingdom of God.
