  Place:

  • Bukoba, Tanzania

  Objective:

  • Implement Diabetes Advocacy Through Awareness and Education (DATAE).

  • Volunteer at the Kagera Regional Hospital.  Each student will be placed with medical professionals in the areas of their interests.  Duties dependent on each individual’s professional health care experience.   
  • Build and rebuild orphanages and dormitories through Izaas Medical Project and Heritage Initiatives, local Bukoba NGOs.

Background:

  • Bukoba is the capital of the Kagera region and also the regions largest city with about 80,000 people. 
  • The Kagera region contains a total population of roughly 1 million people.
  • It is located in the northwestern  corner of Tanzania along the western coast of Lake Victoria (the world’s 2nd largest lake).
