This is a picture of the small mining town of Soudan, MN. The original
picture was neglected, almost forgotten because the composition wasn't very good. I was looking down from
a hill, and the sky was only the top ten or fifeen percent of the picture. The whole thing was very gray.
The sky was nice, but there wasn't a lot to work with. When contrast was increased in the bottom, the sky was
all washed out. Finally, I took a small rectangle of the nicest part of the sky and blew it up until it
was as wide as the whole picture, and merged the two with less precision than perhaps would have been
prudent. I think I like the painting effect, as the eye moves around on the picture.
There is a lot of color.
