The Bengali Student Society of Minnesota (BSSM) is a registered student organization of the University of Minnesota that strives to promote inter-cultural exchange on campus by showcasing the different aspects of Indian, and particularly Bengali, culture. By organizing several events on campus throughout the year, BSSM tries to bring a flavor of East-Indian socio-cultural activities to the heart of Twin Cities.

BSSM was formed in 2005 by a small group of graduate students with the aim of bringing together Bengali students all over the campus. Over the years, BSSM has metamorphozed into a diverse student body representing the culture and traditions of West Bengal, Bangladesh and surrounding areas and currently has about 100 members. It has among our members, not only expatriates from these regions but also other people who have an interest in the Bengali culture and way of life.
