I would greatly appreciate any additional information or corrections from those who may have additional information about these charts, especially the elusive Müllers. I did extensive on-site research with respect to pre-Galician ancestors, but have not been able to personally research many of the Galician films, although I have received comprehensive data from the most authoritative sources, including Ernst Hexel, Fritz Seefeldt (book on Dornfeld parish, listing all German landowners) and Manfred Daum (computer data on Gelsendorf parish, 1784-1859).
The numbers in front of the name represent the numbers on the pedigree chart of our grandchildren, in this case the great-grandchildren of Juliana Dorothea Cristina Schmidtke, nee Ott (# 15).
Dates after the individual's name indicate the years of birth and death, where known. Dates after each locality indicate the period of residence or the date when a vital event took place.

All migrants to Galicia whose place of origin has been identified, except for the Endel and Noll families, came from approximately the northeastern half of the present German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In the LDS catalog, however, you have to look under three different jurisdictions (for 1815-1919): Bayern (Bavaria) for most of the historic Palatinate; Hessen (Hesse) for what is now the district of Rheinhessen around Mainz; and Preussen, Rheinland (Prussian province of Rhineland) for the more westerly areas, south of the Mosel (Moselle) River.
Note the frequency of "Johann" as a first name in the Palatinate. Often several sons were given this same first name. These individuals were almost certainly known by their second names, except for the one (usually recorded as Johannes) who had no second name.
At least to some degree, the same was true of daughters whose first name was Maria or Anna.
The Adam family came from Heuchelheim near Frankenthal (not Heuchelheim near Bad Bargzabern, as indicated by Wilhelm & Kallbrunner).
The Endel family came from Eschbourg via Eywiller in Alsace (not from the villages with similar names west of Saarbrücken, as indicated by Wilhelm & Kallbrunner).
Neustadt an der Weinstrasse was known as Neustadt an der Haardt at the time of emigration.
Walloons or Calvinists from Belgium (then the Spanish Netherlands) settled in substantial numbers in Lambrecht, Frankenthal, and Hanau, with some residing at least temporarily in Freinsheim, Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, and Magdeburg. They kept their French language and intermarried almost exclusively with each other for a long time after they fled to the Palatinate and Hesse, mostly at about the time of the Duke of Alba's severe persecution in 1568. All of the ancestors of Maria Elisabeth Sauerbrunn (# 485) belong to this group. I have noted which lineages are those of Walloons.
The Palatinate was among the areas particularly severely devastated during the Thirty Years' War (1618-48) and was resettled to a large degree by immigrants from less severely affected areas, particularly Switzerland. The Schweitzer name is indicative of this. The Bessler name means a person from Basel, Switzerland. The Issel family almost certainly came from the vicinity of the Issel River, which is mostly in the Netherlands (Ijssel in Dutch) but originates in Westphalia.
Other surnames which indicate the communities from which the family had come at or shortly before the adoption of surnames are de Dison (Dison, Belgium), Kandel, Maulbach, de Pouhon (Bouillon, Belgium), Plittersdorf, Russenberger (Russberg), Stauf and possibly Lauff (Lauf, Baden).
The pre-Galician Althenn and Hoffmann ancestors (with question marks) have been added in view of new information from Manfred Daum about the residents of the Gelsendorf parish in Galicia for 1784-1859, since these show "Althän" (= "Althenn") as an alternative spelling for Altheim. However, the emigrants are not recorded in the Kirchheimbolanden register and most likely lived in a nearby parish.
