Minnesota PaleoWeb: Trilobites

Minnesota PaleoWeb > Ordovician Gallery > Trilobites

Trilobites are members of the Phylum Arthropoda, have exoskeletons and undergo molting as they grow. The majority of trilobite fossils will therefore be fragmentary and difficult to identify precisely. Following is a piece of limestone from the Brickyards in Lilydale near St. Paul, Minnesota.

Identification: Trilobite (pydigium and thorax fragments)
Locality: Brickyards area, Lilydale, Ramsey County, Minnesota.
Formation: Platteville/Decorah
