Hey Dancers, we know you missed out on a couple of lessons with Julie earlier this semester and now we're making it up to you! We'll have her for one extra week, Tuesday and Thursday, the 28th and 30th of April. We wouldn't want you to miss a single night with our fabulous instructor. See you there.

Bad news, dancers: the Ballroom Dance Club will NOT be meeting this Thursday. We've just been informed that the Bierman Gym is needed to accommodate another sports club's event on the evening of April 16th. We apologize for the short notice; this is a surprise to us as well. We will be adding an additional lesson to replace this unfortunate loss. We'll give you details about the make up class soon!

Planning to put all of your friends in the car and bring them to the U of M Spring Formal Dance this Friday? So are we. Don't stay home Friday night just because you couldn't find a ride. Sign up for a carpool tomorrow night (Thursday) at club. Can't make it tomorrow? Email us now. We'll put you in touch with the club members that have volunteered their vehicles.

We previously advertised on fliers and at club that shuttles were available. As of a recent turn of events, we do not have shuttles. Carpools are replacing the shuttles.

This is the dance you've been waiting for all winter! Get excited!

...and get a ride... (bdc@umn.edu)

See you all at Cinema Ballroom on Friday.

The site has several new additions for you today. First, review your performance at Star of the North on the videos page. Did your bronze Tango not look quite as good as you'd hoped? Refresh your memory of bronze technique on the newly relocated routines page. Finally, the photos page is the new home for photographs from U of M dance events. Check back for more pictures soon!

We'll see you tomorrow for Foxtrot, Tango, and Rumba!

Hey everyone! We hope you're ready for another exciting semester of BDC. The first nights of lessons are coming up soon on February 10th and 12th, and as usual anyone can try it out the first week for FREE!

If you were a part of the club last semester, make sure you bring you're friends to try it out. If they decide join, you'll get $10 off your dues!

Here's a reminder of the things you need to know for class:

To speed things up, you can print and fill out the Participation Waiver (in PDF format)

Students interested in joining this semester can also bring:

Non-students please talk to us when you turn in your waiver.

Because getting to the Gym can be confusing. There will hopefully be signs up this first week to help but here's some basic directions on how to get to the Gym.

Bierman Gym is located a block from McDonalds in Dinkytown. Go through the front doors and down the stairs. Go through the double doors at the bottom of the stairs and turn left. There will be some computer labs in this hallway and a small area with vending machines and tables. Next to this small area are some double doors (that should be open) and in there is the Gym we use to DANCE! Hope this helps.

We've rearranged our site a bit. The videos and step lists have been moved here. In the future, you can always access our educational materials -like steplists and video clips- on the "Videos and Routines" page. Another new link in the top navigation, the syllabus, is a handy reference for which steps are being taught and when. We'll see you tomorrow for American Viennese Waltz and International Cha Cha.

Also, join us at Cinema Ballroom on November 14th, and bring your friends! The U of M Ballroom Dance Club is hosting a variety dance from 9:00 to midnight. Brush up on your skills before the dance with beginning and intermediate Cha Cha and Tango lessons at 8:00. Need a ride? No worries, we're providing shuttles.

Happy dancing!

To help you prepare for Minnesota Madness, we're providing some useful tools. For each dance posted here, you'll find an informative video clip accompanied by a move list for a bronze level routine. Check back, as we're adding more detailed routines. Enjoy!

Registration dates have been finalized! Classes will start Tuesday the 23rd and Thursday the 25th of September! We offer this first week FREE of charge to spark interest in the public and to show people what the University's Ballroom Dance Club is all about. You will be able to register for the semester during this week.

To register quickly, efficiently, and at the student rate, bring a copy of your schedule showing that you are enrolled as a full-time student, and download the Participation Waiver (in PDF format) from the Rec Sports web site, print it, fill it out, and bring it to registration at Bierman Gym. For undergraduates, full-time is defined as 12 or more credits. For graduate students, full-time requires 6 or more enrolled credits. If you are a member of the public, just fill out one of our registration forms.

Experience levels of any type are welcome! If you have two left feet, can barely walk in a straight line, or have never danced once, we still encourage you to sign up and join the Ballroom Dance Club! Also, if you are of advanced experience, you will find our classes fun, exciting, and full of technique!

Beginner 6:45-7:45
Intermediate 8:00-9:00
Advanced 9:15-9:45

If you have any questions, contact us (bdc@umn.edu) and we will answer any questions you may have!
