The Elliot Park Neighborhood Archaeology Project

A few photos from this year's field work.

We found a deposit of artifacts that appear to all date from right around 1900. All three of these images show materials from that context.

A chamber pot, complete but not quite intact.

A "mustache cup." The band inside the lip (on the right) was to help keep a genteman's mustache dry with every sip of coffee.

The bottom of a plate. This is a maker's mark, which gives a lot of information about where and when the piece was made. This mark indicates that the piece came from a manufacturer in Devonshire, England. This design was probably registered in 1872, and this piece was probably made within a few years of that time.
