Experience hands-on history!

The Elliot Park Neighborhood Archaeology Project 2008

Wednesday, August 13th to Sunday, August 17th, 2008

9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily

Dig in!

We welcome visitors and volunteers, and you can come and go as you like during the project. Just show up between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, and you can stay for a few minutes or a few hours.

Volunteers can help with excavation and screening, but we can also use help with cleaning and sorting artifacts, taking photos, drawing maps, running errands, and other jobs. We'll teach you about excavation procedures, artifact handling and identification, and the history and structure of the site. No experience is needed, just interest and a desire to learn. Everyone is welcome.

Visitors may wan tto bring sun screen and, if you would like to dig, you may want to wear sturdy footwear and clothes that can get dirty.

Volunteers and visitors will need to sign a basic liability that will be available later for download, and will also be available at the site.

This year's site is located on 17th Street East between Park and Chicago Avenues , on the edge of downtown Minneapolis.

You can also view information on a few simple cautions and precautions, and some basics information about archaeology.
