We are finally on the normal road and flying through the valley. Clouds start gathering so we caught McKinley just in time. This photo captures so many things I love about Alaska: mountains, lakes, spruces, and the unbelievable feeling of space.

I have to digress from my main topic for a second here. I have two great pictures that were taken at different times but illustrate so vividly things mentioned above.

The first one I took on my way to work and it captured that sudden (just matter of minutes) change of weather: from sunny to thick clouds.

The second one I took on my aeroplane ride right after I came to Alaska. At that time I was striken by the amount of lakes one could see -- it almost felt that land is soaking wet. But wait till you here the facts: there are 3 million (million!!) lakes over 20 acres in Alaska! If that doesn't blow your mind away please write me about places you've been to!
