I thought that it's a shame to live in Alaska for two years and not see glaciers, so my husband and I bought a 6-hour long 26 glacier cruise. It starts in Whittier, tiny city on the shore of Prince William Sound. But first we had to leave Fairbanks and drive 356 miles to Anchorage and then about 50 miles to Whittier.

On the map you can see there is only one road connecting Fairbanks and Anchorage. It weaves between gorgeous mountains, unending lakes and forests. But I'm getting ahead of myself. At 10am, August 8, 2003 we hit the yellow road and start our trip to Whittier.
