Asian-American Student Union

Board Meeting Agenda
Sunday, November 23. 2008
Argyle Meeting Room

• Position updates
• Event Reflections
o Equity and Diversity Breakfast (Andy, Vanessa, Meky)
 Were under the impression that there would be more students at the event – a little awkward, but other than that it seemed like people were interested
 500+ people most were university officials. Talked about boards of equity and diversity.
 We will be invited back next year, according to the lady in charge
o Operation: Pasta Bar (Board)
 About 100 people, successful for the number of people showing up
 Pasta was good, but underestimated due to information from Buca (they said it would be plenty)
 It was good to be able to work with a group of people outside of our affiliates
o MAASU (Jimmy, Meky, Irene Tran, Vanessa)
 A lot of fun; opened with a lot of performances going on. Included instrumental as well as singing. Impressive show  Jimmy hoping to give the leadership activity to us after Thanksgiving
 Other workshops on perceptions of workshops, branding you, and how the Asian community needs to get out and vote more
 2nd day was all workshops, such as personal values and leadership.
 What Irene got out the most: got her re-motivated as to why she does ASU (re-ignited her passion for ASU).
• Room cleaning (Jimmy)
o Hopefully next semester, when we don’t have meetings on Fridays, a lot of the communication problems about when we need to clean the room will take care of themselves.
• AnySoldier updates (AnySoldier committee)
o Operation Door Step: Nov 30. Going around Eden Prairie to collect item donations.
o Information for donars included a letter of who we are, and what we’re working on, and a list of items they can donate to us.
