ASU Room – CMU 219

• “Our History is still being written” people
o BSU and La Raza have agreed to co-sponsor a meeting
o Asking ASU to do the same, help advertise it, etc.
o Book about people fighting oppression
o Covers racism and nationalism
o Meeting is on November 19th, 7 PM Anderson hall
o
• ASU / Affiliate Updates
o PSA: Fundraisers for research study for candy, chocolate and music…eat before you do the study, listen to music and they see how it affects your interpretation. Sign up will be posted in ASU October 20, 40 people can do it. $15 per person for PSA. FACT: Oct 24th, going to FACT. $60-70 per person, chance of possible reimbursement. Next meeting, talking about current issues in Philippines. Oct 17 rollerskating event there will be a theme.
o CASA: Tomorrow, Ultimate Fundaricbee; meeting at 10 AM. Fri Oct 18th, in ASU 7-10…Chinese games, video games, ice cream. Dumpling Night: Nov 8th, location and time TBD. Nov 22nd CASA pageant in the Whole. Keep an eye out for applications. CASA is looking for referees for the tournament tomorrow.
o KSA: fashion show Oct 30 at Alumni Center, 6 PM. Seating and selling tickets at the door, show starts at 6:30. VIP is $10, nonstudents $15, students $2, KSA member is free. Selling tickets in Coffman on Oct 15 & 16 at a contact table. Collaborating with KISO; having a dance on Nov 22, at the Hyatt, starts at 7.
o KISO: Going to have a Halloween social. KISO had a very successful event last night.
o CSAM: New Year: On Apr 4th. Karaoke Night Nov 7, Roy Wilkins, from 7-11. Competition between Malyasian club, Nov 7 at the Field House.
o VSAM: Oct 27 Vietnamese workshop 6:30-7:30 in Folwell, free food. Spots open for FMSC on Oct 18th from 4:30-6:30. VSAM: goal of $150 for Any Soldier. Still going to Madison, all spots filled up
o JSA (not present) Halloween social on the 24th
• ASU Halloween Social
o Friday, October 24, 2008 – 7:30pm to 10pm, President’s Room
• AnySoldier
o ASU will be coming to interested affiliate’s meetings to talk about the project
o ASU is fundraising in ASU by selling candy, help us by buying/eating 
• ASU is holding Yoga lessons in ASU every Thursday at 5 PM in ASU, starting next week. Come join us and learn yoga 
• ASU / Affiliate check up (with Andy and Irene)

• If you have any concerns about school, tuition, complaints, talk to Vanessa or Irene about it, since they sit on the Activities & services committee.

o Got together as a committee; two separate events. Check website for dates…bake sale and ramen/mac & cheese day. (Selling in ASU)
o Someone needs to write something out for the ASU website.
o Called Operation Any Soldier, minutes will be posted to ASU website
• Taiko drumming updates (10 minutes)
o $600, at the West Bank Auditorium, on Nov 7th. Japanese snacks and tea? Use a crock pot to keep water hot? 7-11 PM
o It’s downstairs in Willey Hall
o Show at 7; people arrive at 6:30

o Went last weekend to Mcallester Taste event…ASA had already cleaned up their booth. Talked with Sharon; interested in doing something with ASU as a collaborative event in the future.
o Keyur: contact her to ask if they have anything in mind; otherwise mention that some sort of date auction or bake sale could possibly work?
o TCAR meeting tomorrow from 12-1 at St. Kate’s.
• Jimmy: room cleaning was a disaster today! We can do a lot better job of it. We need to do our part, do the thing we need to get done together. Point number 2: room setup for GA meeting. Vote on how to setup room for future GA meetings: presentation style (like 2 weeks ago)
• Goals for next GA meeting: arrive 10 minutes early, agendas passed out at 5:30 or before meeting!
