AMS leadership is designated in officer positions, which are vital for AMS operation. AMS was founded with the fundamental idea of members controlling every aspect of our activity and involvement, with leadership being structured in committees. AMS officers serve by organizing and directing sub-committees of AMS members, and each sub-committee is focused on completion of a specific task (i.e. organizing an event, conducting a student service, etc.). AMS officers are divided into 6 Chair positions: Administrative, Records, Fiscal, Social, Professional and Membership. The duties of each chair are detailed in the AMS constitution (available on the AMS website). New officers are nominated and elected during March meetings, and assume positions on May 1st.
