Crisis Connection

with a wide variety of issues including depression, suicide, abuse,
family and relationship problems, addiction and others. We speak with
the caller, help them deal with their issues and concerns, and often
refer people to the hundreds of community agencies who can provide
further help."
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

24-hour, toll-free suicide prevention service available to anyone in
suicidal crisis".

Short-Term and Long-Term Counseling & Therapy Services
University Counseling & Consulting Services [UCCS]
.612-624-3323. For U of M students. Free for full-time students who
have paid the student services fee. Available at 109 Eddy Hall on the
east bank campus or 199 Coffey Hall on the St. Paul campus. Also
provides free, anonymous on-line screening for mental illness or
substance abuse on their website.

University of Minnesota Students who pay the Student Services Fee have access to The Mental Health Clinic at Boynton.

This is a onestop referral source for all the TC student services that relate to mental health issues.
Chrysalis Mental Health center

family and couples therapy, group therapy, play therapy, psychiatric
assessment and medication, and other workshops.
Fairview Counseling Center
.612-672-6999. "Fairview Counseling Centers provide short-term,
solution-focused therapy to help you define your problems, draw on your
unique strengths and resources, and work through solutions to help you
find balance in your life."
Neighborhood Involvement Program [NIP]
.612-374-4601. Offers individual and group counseling on a sliding-fee scale.
Rape and Sexual Abuse Center at the NIP [RSAC]
.612-374-4601. Offers counseling, support groups, therapy groups, and
walk-in counseling for survivors of sexual abuse or sexual assault on a
sliding-fee scale. Also offers free concerned persons group.
Family And Children's Services
.612-339-9101. Specializes in counseling for families, couples,
children, teens, and adults. Provides GLBT counseling, resources, and
support. Sliding fee scale available. Also offers some groups.
Walk-In Counseling Center
.612-870-0565. "WICC provides a variety of services which address unmet
mental health needs. These include providing crisis intervention and
short-term counseling to people who do not have access to other
services. These are provided without fee. WICC also provides
consultation to individuals and organizations on a variety of service
issues."

Sexual Violence

Aurora Center
24-hour help line .612-626-9111. "The Aurora Center for Advocacy and
Education is a safe and confidential place for victims of sexual
assault, relationship violence, and stalking to receive support and
advocacy." The following services are free to U of M students: crisis
line, telephone or walk-in referral services, telephone or walk-in
short-term individual advocacy services [including legal advocacy],
accompaniment to the U of M hospital emergency room for a SARS exam,

Chemical Dependency Treatment at Fairview
.612-672-2736. "Fairview Chemical Dependency Services offers a wide
range of services, some of them hospital-based, others conveniently
located in communities in and around the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro
area."
Eating Disorders
Emily Program
Provides outpatient treatment and counseling services which include
group therapy, individual therapy, nutritional counseling, family
therapy, psychiatry services, and day programs. Deals with anorexia,
bulimia, and compulsive overeating/binge eating disorder. Accepts many
forms of insurance. Has locations in:

STAR Clinic - Services for Teenagers At Risk
.612-626-4260. Located at the McNamara Alumni Center on the U of M
campus. Focuses primarily on eating disorders and weight management in
adolescents. Uses physicians, psychologists, nutritionists, and family
therapists to form an effective outpatient treatment plan. Operates
with most forms of insurance or a sliding fee scale.
Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital Eating Disorders Institute
.952-993-6200. Located in St. Louis Park. Treatment programs include
inpatient, partial-day hospital, intensive outpatient, and outpatient.
Also has a binge-eating disorder program.
The Joy Project
Hosts weekly support groups for members of the community who are
struggling to recover from an eating disorder. Friends and family
members are also welcome to attend. Also offers recovery-support online
message boards and extended supportive programming, physical activity
classes. Located in St. Paul.
