Welcome back from the student officers of Active Minds!
We are currently setting the schedule for our social meetings – stay tuned for dates and topics!
Thank you for your interest in Active Minds!
On this page you'll find our mission summary and some of the activities through which we accomplish our goals of learning about and embracing mental health and being an education resource for our fellow students. All are welcome to our social meetings, and becoming a member is easy. Just ask one of the officers at the next meeting.
We are currently seeking leaders to fill officer roles for the 2010-2011 school year! Please contact us at aminds@umn.edu if you're interested in being a leader. We will request that you attend several of our meetings to learn more about the cause.

Active Minds accomplishes our goals of outreach and education in three ways:
I -Social meetings these twice-monthly meetings are a chance for students to get together, learn about various mental health issues, eat free food, watch films, play games, and discuss issues affecting college students today. Our meetings have covered a wide range of topics including depression, substance abuse, maintaining positive mental health, and the mental illness stigma reduction.
II - Events The 2008-2009 school year was especially busy for us! We hosted Awake: Seeing Mental Health Through Art, an art exhibit with 17 pieces from 14 U of M student artists! The exhibit was on display at Boynton last May. To view some of the featured pieces, take a look at our Awake presentation here. We also held officer/member Mental Health and Illness Q&A Panels, where we reflect the effects, both negative and positive, that mental illness has had on us and our families.
III - Connecting with the Campus Community We are fortunate to work closely with several other organizations on campus, including University Counseling and Consulting Services (UCCS), the Stamp Out Stigma Campaign (SOS), the Aurora Center for Advocacy and Education, and the Provost's Committee for Student Mental Health.
