H. 'Wasisdas'

This little number was a gift from Dr. Bob Olson of St. Louis Park, MN. I have known him for many years through the Men's Garden Club of Minneapolis and various hosta societies. He is my personal hosta guru and I am his personal computer guru (or so he tells me). He brought this plant from Japan in 1996. He and several other prominent members of the American Hosta Society went to visit hosta addicts in Japan and, not incidentally, collect a few new hostas. The buying, bargaining and trading got rather hectic toward the end of the trip and Bob bought this hosta without even knowing it's name. When he gave it to me he told it's name was H. 'Wasisdas' -- which I later learned is German for "What is that?" How fitting?
