H. 'Stiletto'

This is a rather young plant of H. 'Stiletto'. When this photo was taken, it had been in the ground only a little over a year. It will eventually grow to about 6 inches in height with a spread of 12 inches. It will fill in, but remain rather spiky in appearance. It's said to be a rapid grower and spreader, but I'll need more time to substantiate this. It has very showy rich lavender flowers with purple stripes and white edges. The margins of the leaves are rippled. The leaves themselves are satiny above and shiny beneath. The spots you see in this photo are not really on the plant, but are an artifact of downsampling the picture in PhotoShop. H. 'Stiletto' was registered by Paul Aden in 1987.
