It's easy to see the origin of the word "hearts" in this cultivar's name just by looking at the leaf shape in this photo. I don't know the actual reason for the use of the word "happy", but in my garden it is one of the first hostas to emerge and unfurl its leaves. That makes me happy, indeed! It's a medium sized plant and readily adapts to living in a container. While it's an early emerger, it blooms late in the season -- August here in zone 4. In this photo, the blossoms look white, but are really a light lavender-pink. The sunlight tends to wash out the color when you photograph a light colored blossom.
