Have you already started your undergraduate degree? For students with 90+ credits, the University of Minnesota offers ....

Metropolitan State University offers Individual Degrees at a distance through their First College that students can complete entirely online. Students design the program to fit their own interests. Credit is granted through coursework, independent studies, internships, and/or demonstrations of acquired knowledge. The Individualized Studies program allows the student to create a customized degree program based on individual interests and career goals.

Individualized Degree at a Distance

Degree at a Distance is a broad term that encompasses many learning strategies, ranging from independent studies to online courses.

Graduation Requirements

  • Credit Requirement: 124 semester credits, at least 40 upper-division credits
  • Minimum Residency Requirement: 30 credits
  • Graduation GPA Requirement: 2.00
  • Additional First College Graduation Requirements:
    • An approved degree plan
  • Minimum of 20 First College residency credits if transferring from another college at Metropolitan State University including the following First College courses:
    • PRSP 301 Perspectives:  Educational Philosophy and Planning
    • PRSP 499 First College Capstone (Another capstone course may be substituted with an advisor's approval.)
