"Paul Murphy" ( prmurphy@eircom.net ) of Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, Ireland, wrote saying, " I have no idea of who is responsible for the drawing, but the subject is William Ewart Gladstone. He was a statesman and Prime Minister, member of the Liberal Party during the years 1868–74, 1880–85, 1886 and 1892–94. "
Paul is married to the great-niece of Marion Gill.
Ruth Alliband writes, "We assume it was done from
a photograph by Henry Standing (it was found in his writing desk).
Gladstone must have been an individual Henry admired from a great
distance (the Iowa prairies)."
This picture will be moved to the Henry Standing page.
