The theme of this conference is long-term community development in the wake of a disaster.  First, we want to offer Salvadoran NGOs and community leaders the opportunity to learn from and share their experiences with leaders and NGOs who have already been through the process.  Second, we want to offer Honduran NGOs and leaders an opportunity to reflect on their work over the last eleven years.  Finally, as directors, Beth and I want to learn from this unique event lessons and experiences we can share with other academics, NGOs and victims/leaders especially in Haiti.  This conference is a chance to remember, share, learn, and motivate our compatriots in other parts of Central America.
