There are a few steps in becoming a licensed architect:
.Attend college and get a degree. Note that you do not have to go to undergraduate school for architecture, in order to get into a master architecture program.
Another step is the Intern Development Program often referred to as IDP. IDP is a program that requires that you register your intern hours. The program also requires that your intern hours be in different categories this will help you be a well rounded architect.
Another step is taking the Architect Registration Exam, also known as the ARE. This exam is usually taken over a few years. There are seven different sections to the exam today.
After all steps have been completed above. Last is to register in a state or multiple states to work as an architect. Once the state checks that all requirements from above have been completed, then you are an official licensed architect.
