WELCOME!

Hello and welcome to Minnesota's Alpha Chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Medical Honors Society. Please direct any comments and/or ideas to aed@umn.edu

Alpha Epsilon Delta is a student organization dedicated to assisting students engaged in the pursuit of a professional healthcare career. The University of Minnesota chapter exposes students to current issues in medicine, provides a forum for students with common interests, and extends a program of service to benefit the local community. Through informative speakers, including physicians, current medical students, and admissions faculty, volunteer opportunities, and social events, AED aims to prepare students for the medical school application process and to depict the life of a physician.

Medical Mission Trips

1.Last year, AED sent teams to Mexico and Costa Rica over winter and summer break through International Service Learning. This year, AED is thinking about planning another trip over spring or summer break to one of their many destination countries. In a very hands-on setting, trip participants will work with physicians from the area by setting up clinics in small communities and helping to provide medical care. Interested? Contact Brittney at lemke067@umn.edu.

2. A student at the University of Minnesota, Gabriel Schlough, is currently developing a clinical research program in Sierra Leone that will give undergraduate students the opportunity to volunteer abroad while conducting basic science research, including data collection and analysis. This data will be used by health professionals and government agencies in Sierra Leone to create a sustainable national clinical research program. See the attached document for more information, including Gabriel's contact information.
