U-DFL Organizational Structure

Executive Board

  • Attend bi-weekly board meetings involved in setting organization direction and goals
  • Develop weekly meeting agendas
  • Serve on respective committees
  • Serve as group contacts

Leadership:

            Affirmative Action Coordinator

 

Finance Committee

  • Organize one large fundraiser per semester
  • Create fundraising goal per month
  • Create budget
  • Coordinate Fundraising Mailings

Leadership:

Committee Chair = Treasurer: Oversees committee and delegates positions as needed

Political Contribution Coordinator: Leads the MN Political Contribution Fund drive continuously

 

Communications Committee

  • Form a quick response team to respond to current events through letters to the editor
  • Advertise events/meetings; Coordinate all flyering
  • Create U-DFL slogan
  • Manage website
  • Help execute current initiative (caucus education)
  • Execute semester tabling

o       Staff tables

o       Make new flyers for each event and meeting

o       Make ¼ page informational sheet to distribute

o       Have fancy item to distribute (key chain, flashlight)

Leadership:

            Committee Chair: Oversees and works to form message

            Media Relations Chair: Coordinates quick response/letters to the editor

            Public Relations Chair:  Oversees tabling and flyering

 

Programs and Activities Committee

  • Plans social events throughout the semester
  • Generates ideas for large events which are then broken into sub-committees
  • Organizes Capitol Day with outreach committee

Leadership:

            Committee Chair: Oversee committee

            Sub-committee Chairs: Oversee specific events

 

Outreach Committee

  • Build relations with student groups, CDM, MSA, and the DFL party
  • Plans community service events

Leadership:

            Committee Chair = Affirmative Action Coordinator

            Campus Coordinator: Lead relations with student groups

            Party Coordinator: Serve as head contact to the DFL Party

            Public Service Chair: Leads community service efforts

Anyone can participate in any (or all) committee that he/she desires.  

General Meetings:  Occur on Mondays as designated by schedule on website.  All general meetings will feature a speaker, have time for announcements (including committee updates), and will be followed by dining out.  Committees will briefly meet only to discuss urgent matters

Committee Meetings: Occur on Mondays as designated by schedule on website.  All committee meetings will allot time for announcements (including committee updates), but a bulk of the time will be spent in committees.  If additional time is required, committees can meet during the week.  As with the general meetings, committee meetings will be followed by dinner.
