Johann Goblirsch was born on 18 September 1835 in Zemschen, Kreis Bischoftenitz, Bohemia, in what was then the Austrian Empire. His parents were Georg Goblirsch and Maria Anna Sackl.

He married Elizabeth Büchl, daughter of Georg Büchl and Maria Elizabeth Warta. Elizabeth was born on 9 October 1837.
Three sons were born to them in Bohemia, Adam, George, and John.
In 1868, Johann, his wife Elizabeth, their sons, Johann's brother Adam, Adam's wife Margaretha Stadick, and their daughter Mary immigrated to America. They arrived in New York City on 11 May on the ship Deutschland.
Johann and Elizabeth settled on a farm in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota.
Seven more children were born to them: Michael, Joseph, Frank, Charles, Anton, Andrew, and Katherine.
Death
Johann died on 28 February 1909 and was buried in St. George's Catholic Cemetery, St. George, Nicollet County, Minnesota.
Elizabeth died on 26 April 1909 and was buried in St. George's Catholic Cemetery, St. George, Nicollet County, Minnesota.
