Co-Author Sought (Female Preferred) for The Sex-Script Hypothesis The Sex-Script Hypothesis: Toward A Comprehensive Theory of Human Sexuality is now about 150 pages long in the 4th draft. The book will ultimately be about 300 pages long. The outline and a synopsis of each of the current 11 chapters are published on this home page. And printed copies are available. John Money, who is the most logical co-author, since the content is mostly a popularization of his thought, has declined the offer to be co-author. So someone from the next generation of sexologists must take up this challenge. The book summarizes what has been learned about human sexuality up to this point in sexology. And it sets out the questions that will have to be settled by further research in the 21st century. It will not be a technical work of interest only to professional sexologists. But it will be based on their research. And it will refer readers to more technical books if they have the time and interest to go deeper. The current 150 pages will probably boil down to about 100 pages when they are completely revised to print only the best parts. So about 2/3 of the book remains to be written. This means that there is room for the co-author to become the major author of this book. Just how credit is shared will depend on how much each of us contributes to the final book. I do not claim to be an expert in sexology. I have no professional training in that field. But this is an advantage for a book designed for the general public. We will not use technical terms only professionals understand. So if you are a doctor or psychologist, my role may be to help you make your thought intelligible to the general reading public. The structure of the book remains completely open, even tho the current chapters do seem to be reasonable units. Other ways of presenting the material could also be valid. And if there are new emphases to be made, then a different arrangement of the themes might be in order. I have been writing for so many years that I am no longer afraid to abandon even something I have worked on for a number of months if a better way of expressing it comes along. For example, some chapters of my book on love have been completely transformed between editions. One such complete change-over is the chapter on sex. This writing project is open-ended, since I have no contract to publish it. So we can take as many years as we need to do it right. And if you have a name that would be recognized by publishers, then that could help us to find a publisher who would be willing to take a risk on a book the likes of which has never been seen before. And if you do not want to be co-author yourself, perhaps you can extend this suggestion to someone else you know who is deeply in tune with the sex-script hypothesis.
