1. LOCATION:
1002 Park Drive, Grand Forks, North Dakota 58201
Grand Forks is located on the North Dakota side of the Red River,
which forms the border between North Dakota and Minnesota.
We serve the Red River Valley around Grand Forks
---northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.
Driving into Grand Forks, find Washington Avenue,
drive south to Park Drive,
turn east until you reach 1002 Park Drive.
We share space with Nancy Pasley Dance Studio,
in a city neighborhood.
2. DESCRIPTION:
We have 23 members and about 10 friends who attend somewhat regularly.
We have a variety of community and university people
as Grand Forks is home to the University of North Dakota.
We meet weekly September through May, at 10:30 AM, central time.
Religious education for children and child-care
are available at the same time as the Sunday service.
In the summers we have only occasional socials
and adult religious education programs.
Child care is usually available.
We are a lay-led congregation---no minister.
3. HISTORY:
We celebrated our 10 year anniversary
as an official congregation of the UUA in September 2002.
We have met in several different locations.
1002 Park Drive has been our meeting place since 1998.
We have had booms with 30 or more attending each Sunday,
and RE program with over 15 children,
but the departure and deaths of committed members left us struggling.
The Flood of 1997 also took a toll on our members and the group as a
whole.
4. THE FUTURE
Despite the fact that the group sustained personal
and fellowship losses in the flood of 1997, we persevered,
and have maintained a membership of approximately 20 adults since
then.
Admittedly, we are a small group, but a determined one.
We would like our congregation
to grow, and we are happy to welcome new people.
5. CURRENT HAPPENINGS:
We meet each Sunday at 10:30, September through May.
We have informal services with topics generally about spiritual or
social issues.
We have a monthly book club
and annual service auctions.
