WHO SHOULD JOIN
THE RIGHT-TO-DIE MINNESOTA
LEGISLATION COMMITTEE?

This cyber-group is open to anyone interested in the subjects to be discussed.
This includes both those who favor new laws for Minnesota
to secure the right-to-die and those who oppose such changes of law.

This committee will have no face-to-face meetings.
Rather, we will communicate by means of e-mail and a website.

Here are some of the most relevant persons who might join:

1. Minnesota legislators—either in the House of Representatives or the Senate.
Legislators are obviously the persons who will make any new laws.

2. Advocates of the right-to-die.
These persons need not be affiliated with any particular end-of-life organization.

3. Advocates of the right-to-die from other states and countries.
We in Minnesota can learn from the experiences of others
who have sought to change laws with regard to the right-to-die.

4. Opponents of the right-to-die.
These persons also need not be affiliated with any particular organization.

5. Hospice board members, staff members, & volunteers.
These professionals and layperson deal every day with people who are dying.

6. Physicians.
Doctors will be deeply involved in any end-of-life decisions.
And any new laws about the right-to-die
will probably refer to the roles of physicians.

7. Lawyers.
Lawyers will help us to formulate any new laws
so that they will fit into the present system of Minnesota law.
Lawyers can also point out any pitfalls in draft legislation.

8. Prosecutors.
These are the public officials who are be responsible for deciding
to bring criminal changes against anyone who violates any law.
They will want any new laws to be workable from their perspective.

9. Journalists.
Reporters and researchers for all new media
who will cover the right-to-die debate
are welcome to join this electronic discussion group
and to give us their perspectives on anything we discuss.
