About the UMFC

The Fencing Club made its first appearance at the University of Minnesota in the 1880's and has been part of the Sport Clubs Program for over forty years. The club is a resource for members of the University community who are interested in fencing and helps to promote the sport throughout the Midwest. There is no experience necessary to join the club - members of all skill levels are welcome. Members can receive instruction relating to the three weapons in fencing: Epee, Foil and Sabre. Many of our members enjoy fencing competitively, though some just fence for the fun of the sport. The club promotes both.

Through the club, there are opportunities to fence in local and national tournaments. For several years, we have had a number of club members compete at the National Championships. The club also hosts four tournaments each year -- two in the fall and two in the spring -- that provide a chance for members to fence against non-club members without having to travel.

The club is looking forward to another great year both competitively and socially. We'd love to have you join us.
