Preschool Classroom C Introduction

classroom CPreschool Room C houses 14 children ages 4 and 5 years old. The current child to teacher ratio is 10 to 1, however it will transition to 7 to 1 by September 2007.

The Room C Head Teacher has been teaching at Como Community Child Care since September of 2006. She graduated form Gusdavus Adolphus College with a degree in Elementary Education and has four years of experience working in the Child Care field.

The main goal for Room C is to help the children become independent thinkers and doers. Every child works at their own level and is challenged with activities that they can succeed at. The daily activities include calendar time, counting to 100, learning shapes, repeating nursery rhymes, singing songs, learning Sign Language, learning body parts, journal writing, shelf time( individual activities that develop fine motor and cognitive skills), and reading multiple books! Every Tuesday and Friday, each child spends 10 minutes working on the classroom computer. They work on navigating the mouse by making creative pictures, counting and matching objects. Everyday the children build social skills through role playing activities, books, and through play.
