Biomedical Optics Laboratory is located on the third floor of the Shepherd Laboratories building (Map)

Biomedical optics for diagnostic and therapeutic applications is an important component of biomedical engineering.  Several light-based techniques are already in clinical use, and more research is required for the development of new methods and improvement of current approaches.  Integration of engineering principles with medicine to solve contemporary biomedical engineering problems is the major thrust of our  research.
