Dr. Valentino Stella’s Visit
Dr. Valentino Stella, distinguished professor at the department of pharmaceutical Chemistry, KU, paid a two-day visit to the pharmaceutics department at the U of M (March 4-5) courtesy the AAPS student chapter. He had a busy itinerary packed with a seminar, one-to-one discussions, lunches, dinner and student –post doc group interactions. Dr. Stella’s interest, verve, stimulating conversations, keenness to discuss everything under the sun and sense of humor made us enjoy every minute of his visit. His seminar on prodrugs as well as the valuable nuggets of advice on life and academics which he dispensed to us is something we all will cherish!

Dr. Aurora Visit
Dr Jack Aurora, the Senior Director of R&D at Perrigo Company, visited the chapter in early February. During his visit he presented a seminar about intellectual properties and generic drug development. Several students and post-docs took the opportunity to meet with Dr. Aurora at the lunch discussion following his seminar, while others had a chance to speak with him over breakfast or dinner, or in individual meetings. Dr. Aurora’s visit allowed members to discuss and ask detailed questions about a wide range of topics, including those he discussed in his seminar as well as his career experience.

Ice Skating at Centennial Lakes
Chapter members had fun on a cold January morning  ice skating and ice-sledding at Centannial Lakes in Edina.  Many ice-skating skill levels were represented and injuries were kept to a minimum.
Happy Hour - December 2007
Chapter members took a break from their research and studies for a little pre-holiday socializing at Grandma's Saloon on the West Bank. In typical graduate student fashion we treated ourselves to most of the appetizers on the menu while we discussed our upcoming plans.
